Chapter 6: Hotels.com: The Smoking Gun
The Virgin Mobile subpoena was initially unsuccessful. They required both the credit card information (which we had) and the phone number (which we didn’t). The subpoenas to Victoria’s Secret, Jewelry by Alex and other retailers were equally disappointing. We did get some useful information from the PayPal subpoena, which indicated Scott had used two emails in addition to his regular work email – bdoug508968@yahoo.com and wscott9527@yahoo.com. We tried subpoenaing Yahoo for the email histories of these two hidden email accounts but were unable to get them.
Who would have thought we would hit the jackpot with the Hotels.com production? Then again, I had asked Patrick to send out a wide range of the subpoenas hoping at least one could unlock the key on the phone numbers. Hotels.com proved to be the smoking gun. Each hotel reservation record included the traveler’s name, phone, email and address. I saw two numbers I didn’t recognize: 781-330-3016 and 774-286-0689! The Hotels.com documents uncovered a third email, bdoug7632@yahoo.com. He also used bdoug508968@yahoo.com when making Hotels.com reservations.
I couldn’t resist so I called both numbers. Of course Scott didn’t answer.
We resubmitted the Virgin Mobile subpoena with these two new phone numbers, and got detailed ownership information. Specifically, from 12/13/2010 to 6/9/2011, Bill Douglas owned 781-330-3016. Bill’s address was listed as 200 Tice Blvd, Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677 and his email was bdoug508968@yahoo.com. The address was of a Hilton Hotel Scott stayed at quite often when he was on business. I reverse searched the email and “Bill” had a Facebook and Myspace account, though I couldn’t get into either of them.
The information also showed Scott Williams had owned 774-286-0689 from 9/12/2011 to 5/23/2013. His address was listed as 85 Fourth Avenue, Waltham MA 20451, which was his office address.
Scott’s credit card records also showed a third set of charges to Virgin Mobile (from 4/2009 to 7/2009) though I did not have the phone number so could not subpoena the records.
The hidden phones certainly tracked the history of our marital difficulties. The first phone was used in spring and summer of 2009, some three months after he first started withdrawing cash and running up the credit cards. The second phone was used from December 2010 through June 2011. This was when he first admitted to a relationship with Miss New Jersey (June 2010), promised he would stop and we attempted our first reconciliation. The third phone was used from September 2011 through May 2013. It was purchased right after I discovered his continued affair, he again promised he would stop and we attempted our second reconciliation.
Quite a pile of secret shit Scott was carrying around! Just to review, I now knew he had purchased a secret phone three times, had at least three secret emails, a fake address and an alias!! Despite the reconciliations, therapy and repeated promises to stop fooling around, his REAL intentions were now painfully clear. What a Douche Bag!
More importantly, Virgin Mobile produced phone histories for both phone numbers for the previous 18 months, specifically during the time period from December 2011 to May 2013. Since his ownership of 781-330-3016 was outside of the time period, there was no new information to be gained from investigating the phone history for that number. But 774-286-0689 was a veritable gold mine of information about who Scott had been calling and when.
Even my lawyer was surprised at the new information our subpoenas had produced and said as much in court documents updating the judge on the progress of our negotiations;
“The Wife has conducted a significant amount of discovery through subpoena. On numerous occasions counsel for the Wife has wondered whether documents subpoenaed would lead to newly discovered information and on many occasions they do lead to further information about the Husband’s affairs with other women which also provides for further dissipation of assets.” (taken from Pretrial Memorandum of Plaintiff)
What did the call history of 774-286-0689 reveal?
The sheer number of Scott’s sex buddies was beyond belief. I didn’t have the real number of course but I could run a reasonable estimate from the data I did have and he was no amateur. The records from his hidden phone for the 10-month period before he moved out showed him calling and texting 75 phone numbers during the time period, over 50 I could track via the internet to women’s names, ages and other background information.
The 75 numbers were only the last 10 months of the roughly 4-year period of solid financial spending evidence of Scott’s sex hobby. I like to run numbers so here is my estimate of the four-year number: 75 contacts in 10 months translates to 7.5 per month. Over the course of 4 years, with the same rate of contact (a good assumption given his outrageous spending), you get an estimate of 360 women contacted to arrange for sex. Of course he probably didn’t screw all of them but even with a 1 in 4 “hit” rate, he would have had sex with 90 women in a four-year period!
By far the most calls were to Miss New Jersey, but there were many others he was in contact with on a regular basis. He clearly had more than one girlfriend and perhaps had two to four during any given time period. These could have included regulars in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and even the Boston area. In addition to the regulars, he was in contact with other women on a one-off basis, in Los Angeles, San Mateo, Seattle, Las Vegas and Chicago when he was in those towns for business. It looked like he had one night stands in New York, Connecticut and Boston, too.
If that weren’t enough, it is amazing (and disturbing) what you can discover on the internet starting with just a phone number. I used Spokeo and other reverse phone tracers to discover the name, address and age of the women he contacted. Some of the women were stupid enough to make their LinkedIn and Facebook accounts public enough it showed up on the reverse phone search.
The really interesting dirt emerged when I googled the actual phone number. Five of the women could be found on-line, advertising their services as escorts/prostitutes. Their phone number was listed as the contact. Another five or so could be found on-line claiming to be “actresses” though the pictures they posted bordered on soft-core porn. One was even a Marilyn Monroe impersonator!
My research showed Scott certainly was the United Nations of the hook up world as the list included white, black, Hispanic, Asian, Russian, Ukranian and even a Muslim woman. I found a few with criminal records, including credit card fraud (Renee Kent, aka Miss Connecticut) and assault (a woman in Philadelphia). A number of them were twenty-two when he met them — which made me obsess about whether my daughters’ friends would be next in line for him.
It got even shadier! A couple of the women in Connecticut (Miss Connecticut, who was one of his regulars and Riley Smith) were Facebook friends. Did Riley fill in when Miss Connecticut was unavailable or was it a two-fer? He had also called/texted Miss New Jersey’s sister. Doing two sisters, even if not at the same time, must win you bonus points in the cheater’s Hall of Fame!
I even found a woman who identified herself as an accomplished equestrian on her personalized hooker website. And another gushing about how she loved horses on her “modeling” profile. Given the girls’ and my horse hobby, how spooky was it that my husband was choosing women who liked horses? I am sure he tried to impress them by talking about the expensive dressage and eventing horses the girls and I owned and the high level of competition our youngest did. Why would he even bother trying to impress these women when they were going to have sex with him anyway? He was paying them, after all. I am sure pretending to be impressed with their client was part of their value added service. Him bringing the horses into it was just …..CREEPY.
On the other hand, maybe part of his gig was to promise these types he would buy them a horse in order to free sex out of them.
Given the impressive sample size of even 10-months of Scott’s harem, it didn’t take much to divide them into three distinct segments of women. The first were the traditional hookers, ones who instead of using a pimp, advertised their services on-line on various adult websites. These women would screw a one-legged troll if there was money in it. Their pricing policy was you pay by the piece. How appropriately termed!
The second group were the sugar babies – mostly thirty and younger women Scott would see on the east coast. My private investigator spoke with a number of these women. A few offered that Scott was seeking to get free sex if possible but he would pay them if needed. Many of the women in New York fit this description but I am sure there were others in Boston, Connecticut and even New Jersey. Of course these women would screw an OLD troll if he would pay the monthly rate. The troll probably had to have both legs, though. Their pricing policy was a retainer for a set amount of servicing per month. Some apparently were stupid enough to do it once or twice for free.
The third group were the down on their luck, barely employed, single moms who represented his “regular” mistresses. Miss New Jersey, a spin instructor with two kids was at the top of this list, but it also included Miss Connecticut (Renee Kent), a country club dining room hostess with two girls and Miss Massachusetts (Haley Knight), who was in the fitness industry and had three kids. There were many others in this category. Who knows how much actual money he gave these women. Instead, these types apparently did it for the five-star hotel stay and dinner, maybe a spa visit, some jewelry or clothing and lingerie from fine establishments like Victoria’s Secret. He promised to marry at least one of them which I am sure was reason enough to keep sleeping with him given her desperate financial situation. You get the picture – these women would screw a presumed RICH troll for the hotel, restaurant and trashy swag with an outside chance he might marry them. Their pricing policy – just plain desperate.
